Commercial vehicles. Citroen utility type: electric and new generation

Stellantis, which groups all its utility vehicles under the Pro One acronym, strives to be number one in the world in terms of light utility vehicles.

It has completely updated its range of utility vehicles, including 100% electric models that have changed in terms of engine, battery and drivetrain.

Berlingo and Jumper

We were able to test the new Berlingo and Jumper in the L2H2 version. Both cars had ballast to keep them in daily use: the Berlingo with a load of 150 kg and the Jumper with 400 kg.

The most technologically advanced Berlingo Van

If the ë-Berlingo Van displays a redesigned front end, it is the interior that has undergone major changes. The passenger compartment includes a new dashboard offering better ergonomics and, in the upper part, a 10-inch touchscreen.

The steering wheel, also redesigned, has controls for the cruise control and audio system.

Driving equipment is part of the new range. The electric version of the ë-Berlingo uses a paddle behind the steering wheel to control the energy recovery when lifting the foot.

The last level is close to the e-pedal and comes close to stopping completely. The ë-Berlingo, however, retains the 136 hp engine.

Better freedom

With an efficient 50 kWh battery, the ë-Berlingo claims a 20% range increase to 330 km. It is equipped as standard with a 7.4 kW onboard charger (11 kW optional).

Fast charging is capped at 100 kW. The heat pump option allows the passenger compartment to be heated in winter while the utility vehicle is charging.

Our test ë-Berlingo had high-quality seats that felt comfortable but the seat is not deep.

The WLTP autonomy that should be 15.5 kWh/100 km has not been achieved and is slightly below 19 kWh/100 km. Let’s say hello to reborn palettes, so effective.

A new, more powerful ë-Jumper

The front end of this new generation Jumper has been redesigned to enhance its aerodynamic properties. The shield, grille and mirrors have been redesigned.

The 100% electric ë-Jumper goes from 122 to 270 hp (90 to 200 kW) and the battery is a unique 110 kWh model whose WLTP range is announced at 420 km.

In addition to 3 driving modes: Normal for various uses (low power up to 160 kW), Eco for complete autonomy (reduced power up to 120 kW) or High performance Power (total power of 200 kW), paddles behind the steering wheel controls. four levels of rapid decline in productivity.

The Ë-Jumper is fitted as standard with an 11 kW on-board charger and accepts fast charging up to 150 kW.

A very powerful heavy duty vehicle

Tested with its 400kg ballast, the ë-Jumper in our hands was a delight on all types of roads on the trail.

Three driving modes were tested and the results are more than respectable with a consumption that is very close to the manufacturer’s announcements at 29.6 kWh/100 km compared to the advertised 29.4.

The interior smells of Fiat production and convenient ergonomics. We regretted the absence of a suspended seat, which is very important for the driver all day.

On the other hand, the features are many, such as: electric power steering like parking brake, digital rear view mirror, 360° parking radar, hands-free access and, of course, accessories necessary for driving. Regulation of GSR2.
