The BMW Group continues its conquest of electric vehicles.

The car group – BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce – has published its financial report for the first quarter of the year. Terrible growth but its drivers are fully recognized: 100% electric cars and models in the upper segment.

82,700 fully electric vehicles delivered in the first quarter of 2024.

The overall growth of the group in the first quarter was alarming – 594,671 submitted, ie +1.1% compared to the same period in 2023.

However, the German company was interested in highlighting the levels of this performance. Premium cars on the one hand: the group recorded an increase in sales of premium models +21,6%. Special thanks to BMW 7 Series which experienced double-digit growth worldwide in the January-March period, compared to the previous year.

But also, thanks to 100% electric cars : in these first three months, 82,700 fully electric cars from the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands were delivered to customers around the world, representing a growth of +27,9%.

“The BMW Group continues its growth in BEVs (100% electric vehicles). With the delivery of our millionth fully electric vehicle since the market launch of the BMW i3, we have reached an important milestone that confirms the attractiveness of our product portfolio”said Jochen Golle, Head of Customers, Brands and Sales at the BMW Group, in a press release.

A very promising electric market in which BMW wants to fully invest. The brand has just announced its long-term partnership with Rimac TechnologyCroatia’s leader in high-voltage batteries, to develop new battery solutions for electric vehicles.

So, who will win the lightning race? Other major car groups are working hard to develop their models but seem to be lagging behind. Aston Martin has teamed up with Britishvolt in 2022, a specialist in sustainable battery design, with the aim of launching its first electric car on the market by 2025. Bentley Motors has postponed the release of its first green model: expected for 2025. until 2026.
