VIDEO: BMW M4 Competition with nearly 1,400 hp catches fire on the dyno

With an output of 510 hp and 650 Nm of torque, the BMW M4 Competition is no small feat. But when you open up the filters with the M4’s sixth line, much more is possible. The tuning company Maximum PSI increased the power of the M4 Competition to more than 1,000 hp, but that was not enough for the fans.

Last year, PSI Scope began making modifications to the M4. For example, the original single turbo was replaced with two Garrett turbos. The new power at the wheels was about 1,200 hp. This wasn’t enough, so a new transmission, multiple intake manifolds, an aftercooler and nitrous were added to increase power significantly. All other powertrain components were upgraded to handle the new power.

Once again the dyno test passed and the power increased. The BMW produced 1,305 hp and 1,379 Nm at the wheels. It still wasn’t enough and so the tuners strengthened the M4 Competition even more. That turns out to be a lot. The dyno results show that power has increased to 1,395 hp and 1,609 Nm at the wheels. During the same test, something explodes in the BMW M4 Racing and a flash of fire is seen under the car. See the picture below.
