Good news for McLaren and Lando Norris

After more positive results at the start of the weekend in China, McLaren intends to continue its momentum. Interviewed after qualifying, Woking team director, Andrea Stella confirmed that the first development would come to the Miami side.

McLaren should have a nightmare in China, but the Woking team will finally get through before this Sunday’s race. For the first weekend of the season, the Papai showed all their skills at the Lando Norris Pole Shootout this Friday in the rain.

Despite disappointing results in the sprint race this early Saturday morning, the Englishman and his teammate Oscas Piasti managed to qualify in 4th and 5th place on the grid. According to Norris, McLaren should have had one of the worst weekends of the season due to the type of track in Shanghai. This Sunday’s race will be the arbiter of the peace, but the Oranges seem to be in the battle for the podium with an advantage over Ferrari.

McLaren is considering tire damage

After qualifying, another good news came from Andrea Stella, team director. The latter confirmed that McLaren will bring its first development in 15 days in Miami for the next Grand Prix. “In Miami we will finally bring the first evolution to our car,” he explains in comments made by Motorsport. Alone in the world in 3rd place in the constructors’ championship, McLaren wants to go back to Ferrari’s pace for the first time.

Papai’s ambition is also to strengthen their leadership against Mercedes and Aston Martin and confirm the trend of becoming the new 3rd team in the field. Last year the Woking team showed all its skills in the changes made throughout the season, from the 9th to the 2nd squad. Andrea Stella explained that the improvement in Miami will be aimed at improving tire damage during the race as well as performance gains.
