BMW drivers Toprak Razgatlioglu and Michael van der Mark get along well. Over the years they have learned a secret or two from each other.
Michael van der Mark has been competing in the Superbike World Championship since 2015, Toprak Razgatlioglu since 2018. They have been teammates for the first time in the Yamaha factory team in 2020 and have been in BMW since 2024. It was clear from the start: your Dutchman and your Turk on the same wavelength, there is harmony between them.
And when you spend twelve race weekends and several trials and events together, you get to know each other. This was evident during Razgatlioglu’s celebration of winning the 2024 World Superbike Championship at BMW in Munich, covered by ServusTV.
When asked how many languages van der Mark speaks, Razgatlioglu immediately replied “three”. “It’s hard for anyone to know that. Besides Dutch and English, I also speak German,” smiled the 32-year-old.
And what are Toprak’s three favorite things to do? “Cars, watches and pistols,” van der Mark replied as if fired from the same line, which Razgatlioglu also confirmed with approval.
At the end of an entertaining duel, van der Mark was a narrow winner.
