Release of the production version of the BMW XM
Recently, patent drawings from the Japanese patent authorities found their way to the public. They showed the final design of the large SUV in detail. It was only a matter of time before delivery breathed more life into the whole thing. Our colleagues from Kolesa.ru took this responsibility. They show a giant in a silver-gray finish.
Of course, the assumed serial optics do not offer any big surprises. BMW mentioned several times that the XM looks very close to The concept of XM will be, which was revealed last November. Still, there are some important changes, especially up front.
Modified taillights, noiseless diffuser
The headlights get a more angular shape and the bumper loses a bit of drama. Where the study came with a closed part under the large kidney, the production version is equipped with a large radar module surrounded by two parking sensors.
The overall look of the rear end is still very sharp. However, someone has put the tail lights back on. It loses some of the classic reading bling, doesn’t extend all the way to the rear bumper and looks more like the currently standard BMW light units.
The diffuser loses some of its sharpness, but the unusual four-pipe exhaust arrangement remains. The same applies to damage to the roof and flat tailgate.
In our first test of the as-yet-undisclosed model, engineers told us the XM will come with a 4.4-liter V8 hybrid that produces 650 horsepower. A more powerful variant, which will have the output of the XM Concept (750 hp and 1,000 Nm), has also already been confirmed.
M GmbH has more arrows in its quiver
The official launch of the production version of XM will take place later this year. The market launch will most likely take place in March 2023. BMW has yet to comment on pricing. The X5 M Competition, on which XM is technically based, starts at 149,100 euros. Expect a decent extra charge.
