You won’t see a car from the Chinese brand Hongqi driving in the Netherlands. However, it is not an unknown manufacturer to many. Whatever you think of the E-HS9, it’s certainly thought provoking. And we can also say the same about the new L1, sedan-like Bentley.
The fact that the Hongqi E-HS9 looks a lot like a Rolls-Royce is not because it is a copy. Parent company FAW Group hires Giles Taylor as head of design, he worked at the British luxury brand from 2011 to 2018.
The Hongqi L1 is an affordable Bentley
The new Hongqi L1 is also reminiscent of cars from luxury brands such as Bentley and Rolls-Royce, but at a lower price. It is not yet known what the exact cost of the car is. We can already see some images and figures via the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, but it remains to be seen what the price will be. Although of course it will be less than the Flying Spur.
Many power tools are registered to Hongqi L1. The first is a 3.0-liter V6 with 395 hp and a 4.0-liter V8 with 490 hp. By the way, that power doesn’t just come from a gasoline engine. The Chinese Bentley is always a hybrid.
Beijing Auto Show
We expect the Hongqi L1 to be shown at the Beijing Auto Show next week. Autovisie is also there. Would you like to stay informed about the news there? Then sign up Free Autovisie magazine.
It is still unknown if the Hongqi L1 will come to the Netherlands as the E-HS9. However, L1 is usually a model aimed at the Chinese market, large sedans are not popular in Europe.
