Last weekend, the young drivers of the Northern Talent Cup 2024 covered their first kilometers on NSF250 R machines. Friday was a theoretical introduction and administration, photography, route inspection and training courses. I was surprised that I was able to be in front and even set the fastest lap time of the whole field,” says the 14-year-old, who feels he is well prepared for the season.

Just 0.027 seconds behind Wiegner, Italy’s Matteo Masili came second on the combined time tables, followed by Jurrien van Crugten of the Netherlands, who was just 0.093 seconds behind the leader. Thias Wenzel, who Kiefer Racing is taking to the race in 2024, took 5th place, followed by Richard Irmscher in 6th place “I wouldn’t expect all the drivers to be fast in the first few kilometers. “That really surprised me,” admitted the Irmscher Racing Team driver. The 14-year-old had previously broken his thumb during individual winter training and was therefore unable to train as much as he wanted in pre-season. “But now I still feel well prepared for the season and after two weeks in Assen it will definitely be better,” Irmscher said with confidence.

Dustin Schneider, who returns to the Northern Talent Cup this season, says: “On Friday I got to know my team and prepared everything together. It rained a little on Saturday morning, so I immediately felt good on the bike. After that, we couldn’t find a setup that worked well in the dryer. But we were able to make progress, even though things didn’t go as planned on Sunday. We went a bit in the wrong direction, but I was able to improve again in the last two sessions. Despite P12, we are close to the lead and I am very happy that we have made great progress and also found a good basic set-up for Assen.” With only 0.609 seconds on Wiegner, the JRP Motorsport Mass Sports Championship driver landed in 12th place on time sheets.

In addition to Schneider, Anakin Zelenak is the second German with previous experience in the NTC.
