2024 Polestar 3 in the spotlight at the Montreal Electric Car Show

After several months of delay due to software problems, the Polestar range is finally expanding with a second model, which usually takes the form of an SUV.

This luxury and unique car, called Polestar 3, will be presented for the first time to the Quebec public at the Montreal Electric Car Show, which will be held on April 19, 20 and 21 at the Olympic Stadium. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy it up close.

Strong as can be

Focused on performance and sporty style, the Polestar 3 achieves a lower carbon footprint than the Polestar 2 sedan. optional Performance package (power 517 and 671 lb-ft), which allows you to reach 100 kilometers per hour in less than 5 seconds.

The 111 kWh battery powered by two electric motors suggests a maximum range of 506 kilometers based on preliminary data based on EPA standards in the United States. It’s on par with competitors like the BMW iX and Cadillac Lyriq. Natural Resources Canada will announce its ratings later in 2024.

By the way, the heat pump is included as a standard to prevent heat loss and increase the range of the car in cold weather. That’s not all: with its dual charging function, the Polestar 3 can be used to power up other electrical devices, or even a car that needs a little recharging.

Priority: aerodynamics and durability

Not only does the Polestar 3 adopt a coupe-like appearance, but it includes features such as ducts on the front of the hood and on the rear spoiler to better manage airflow. Even the 21-inch wheels have an aerodynamic profile.

At the very front, the uniquely shaped headlamps sit in a completely enclosed grille that Polestar calls the “SmartZone”, that is to say where the various sensors of the assistance systems are placed.

Under the panel roof, the materials that make up the Polestar 3 cabin have been chosen with sustainability and ethics in mind. This is the case of the MicroTech seat cover (renewable imitation leather) with wool from a supplier certified for good animal treatment.

Additionally, the Android infotainment system, developed jointly with Google, offers high-quality displays and unparalleled connectivity in a Polestar vehicle. It relies on a 14.5-inch central screen and will no doubt receive remote updates over time.
