While KTM is currently in the press with some unpleasant news, the Austrians are looking forward to a successful year with the X-BOW in international GT racing.
In 2024, the KTM X-BOW once again reached a milestone on race tracks around the world. Many customer teams used different versions of the car from Graz. In the end there are championships, many victories and unforgettable memories.
“We have the most successful year in KTM X-BOW motorsport history behind us. Above all, the KTM X-BOW GT2 was a guarantee of victories and titles when used by our customer teams. We are proud to have been the most successful brand in the Series of Europe’s GT2 and we beat brands like Audi, Maserati, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche. All the teams and drivers who achieved this deserve a big thank you,” said co-owner Laura Kraihamer of motorsport in the KTM X-BOW.
The European Fanatec GT2 Series powered by Pirelli was definitely a highlight this year. Reinhard Kofler and Martin Koch cruised to an undisputed championship title in their second season as driver pairings for the MZR customer team. 11 out of 12 possible podium finishes in KTM X-BOW GT2 #812 underlined the impressive power of the duo. But other teams also demonstrated the car’s capabilities. Seven race wins, five pole positions and 27 podium finishes in the Pro-Am and Am classes show how well the drivers got along with the car.
Of course, the KTM X-BOW could not be missed in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. With Dörr Motorsport, a customer team with a wealth of Nordschleife experience continued KTM’s history in the previous edition of the Eifel. Despite the bad weather and the resulting cancellation, the team achieved 31st place overall with the KTM X-BOW GT2 and at the same time won the class in SP11. Team founder Rainer Dörr summarized: “The promise surrounding the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring was the perfect platform for us to activate this partnership. In any other race or on any other track the ability of cars can be well demonstrated. This applies equally to road and race cars.”
The KTM X-BOW GTX was also used in the 24H Series in 2024. The customer team razoon – more than racing participated in selected events – including the 24-hour races in Dubai and Barcelona. At the end of the season in Spain, the team took second place in the GTX class thanks to their fighting performance.
KTM X-BOW celebrated its second championship success in the Eset Cup. On the road at racetracks in Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and Slovakia, the RTR Projects customer team won the title and the runner-up title in the GTX class of the championship. Viktor Mráz and Mato Homola were behind the wheel. In the sprint classification, Petr Koukola from the Janik Motorsport customer team also won the runner-up title.
The car’s popularity in popular sports was also emphasized by its use in the GTC Race. Uwe Schmitt and Tom Kieffer rode the KTM X-BOW GTX used by CCS Racing. A series of comebacks once again made people sit up and take notice on the third weekend of the Hockenheimring race with three class wins in three races. They beat some of the most powerful GT3 cars, which they also achieved on the challenge track at Spa-Francorchamps the following race weekend.
But KTM X-BOW was successfully used not only in Europe, but all over the world. Fans were able to enjoy Vantage Racing’s participation in the Bathurst 12 Hours in Australia and a class win in the 24 Hours of Fuji, Japan. The fact that the GT4 version of the KTM X-BOW has proven itself was demonstrated in Macau. Level Motorsports used the model in the Greater Bay Area GT Cup on a tough street circuit.
This marks the end of another motorsport year for the KTM X-BOW, but preparations for another successful season are already in full swing – so that more titles and victories may follow in 2025!
