Brivio: “Both pilots are young and full of talent” / MotoGP

With bold decisions, Trackhouse Racing has repositioned itself for the 2025 MotoGP season under the leadership of Davide Brivio. While Raul Fernandez has to give, Ai Ogura is still on a long contract.

Davide Brivio is considered the main character of the Aprilia Trackhouse Racing customer team in the MotoGP World Championship. The Italian took over as team manager less than 12 months ago. The former Suzuki team manager had previously spent a few years in Formula 1. A job at Trackhouse then seemed to Brivio to be the best choice given his fundamental competence.

As a first success, Davide was able to report the advanced state of the satellite unit to team owner Justin Marks. Unlike the first year of 2024, Trackhouse pilots will get the same technical treatment. The starting signal here is also a big test in Sepang.

Brivio explains: “We’re getting the 2025 RS-GP from Aprilia – but it’s only starting in Malaysia. Accordingly, Malaysia will be very interesting and we will be exposed to many discoveries.

The launch of the new RS-GP from Noale had already taken place during the one-day test after the end of the season in Catalunya, but the premiere was reserved for the two visitors of the factory team, Martin and Bezzecchi. Interesting: Trackhouse racer Fernandez was the fastest of Aprilia’s four drivers last November.

The veteran from Italy was also successful in negotiations with Ai Ogura. The conversation started at a time when the Japanese did not even have the leadership of the Moto2 championship. Despite several contenders, including top American driver Joe Roberts, Brivio did not allow himself to be held back from the world champion.

The boss about the guest, shortly before the start of the season: “Experience says that a participant should play freely in the first year. His learning phase will extend beyond the trials. But that is also completely normal. Just like making mistakes. Ai will also be and this experience. He gets all the time and support he needs from us. Of course it also depends on how much pressure he puts on himself – every driver is different.”

The project operations manager is more specific when it comes to experienced Raul Fernandez. Brivio, who was also present at the team’s presentation in Charlotte: “We knew Raul as a pilot with very high potential and in the second year with Trackhouse and the fourth year of his MotoGP career we want to unleash this potential. The clear goal is to improve.”

The team manager continues: “We had a good conversation together and we discussed things that need to be improved. He has already written his points and is in great preparation. Finally, we have two very talented young drivers. In addition, in my opinion, Aprilia is very good in both teams. That is why we are entering the exciting phase of testing with a very good feeling.”

When asked about the new RS-GP paint scheme in Trackhouse team colours, Brivio revealed: “The new look is just a variant. Trackhouse colors are the foundation and unite the team. But we will also be seen with other models several times during the season.

A role model could be the restless LCR team boss Lucio Cecchinello. The Italian and his team have often been seen with the designs of private sponsors. In relation to Trackhouse Racing, the international racing community is probably looking forward to the RS-GP in the form of the new sponsor “Gulf”.
