Buick Encore GX Sales Remain Mid-Pack During Q4 2022 – GM Authority

Q4 2022 saw the Buick Encore GX remain firmly mired in the middle of the pack in terms of overall sales, according to a recent report from GM Authority.

Data obtained from GM Authority’s quarterly sales report indicates that the Encore GX sold just 15,735 units in the fourth quarter of 2022, a modest year-over-year decrease of 4 percent compared to the previous quarter.

The lackluster performance of the Encore GX is particularly noteworthy considering the fact that its sales were dwarfed by those of its more successful competitors. The Honda HR-V, for instance, sold a staggering 57,944 units in the fourth quarter of 2022, while the Mazda CX-30 sold a respectable 25,363 units during the same period.

The Encore GX’s mid-pack performance was also a significant contributor to the overall decline of Buick’s sales during the fourth quarter of 2022. The brand sold just 82,867 vehicles during the quarter, a year-over-year decrease of 19 percent. This dismal showing was likely due in part to the underperformance of the Encore GX, which accounted for 19 percent of Buick’s total sales during the quarter.

Though the Encore GX’s sales may have left much to be desired in the fourth quarter of 2022, the vehicle’s lackluster performance can perhaps be attributed to the increasing competition in the compact crossover segment. With more and more automakers entering the market with similar offerings, the Encore GX has had to compete with a wide range of competitors, many of which offer more modern features and amenities.

It remains to be seen if the Encore GX will be able to make a comeback in the second quarter of 2023. Though its sales may have been lagging during the fourth quarter of 2022, the vehicle’s unique combination of style, practicality, and affordability could potentially help it gain favor with consumers in the future.
