Car brands in music: From Mercedes to Rolls-Royce

Cars have become a symbol of power and fame in showbiz – luxury cars and luxury cars are very popular in hip-hop and rap culture.

Fast cars can not only be seen in music videos, but are also mentioned in song lyrics. Gambling site Spielbank.com.de listened carefully and found out which car brands are most often targeted in rap songs.

With 2,556 mentions, Rolls-Royce comes in tenth place. Rapper Missy Elliott is a big fan of British luxury cars. Rolls-Royce is featured in five of their hits, including their smash hit “Lose Control”.

Anyone who thinks that only V12 cars are popular in the rap scene is wrong. Tesla comes in ninth place with 3,316 mentions.

You probably wouldn’t expect Honda to be among the top ten car brands in rap music either. But the Japanese are mentioned 3,608 times, the French rapper Jul alone mentions Honda in 27 of his songs.

Speaking of rapper Jul, the Frenchman likes to use car brands in his songs, and thanks to him, Audi has also entered the top ten with 4,056 mentions.

Of course, BMW should not be missed. With 5,807 mentions in rap songs, the Bavarian premium brand reached sixth place. BMW is a favorite of rapper Metrickz, who has featured the brand in 13 of his songs.

Team Zuffenhausen opens the top five with 6,874 entries. Rapper Sidoka even pays tribute to the sports car brand with her own song called – who would have thought – “Porsche”.

We are slowly approaching the winner’s podium. Ferrari missed it with 7,212 mentions. This is also thanks to the rapper Kollegah, who mentions horses from Maranello in only 17 songs.

Bronze goes to Bentley thanks to 8,474 entries. The British car brand has a permanent presence in the hip-hop scene, most notably with rap trio Migos, who mention Bentley in 16 of their songs.

Hot cows from Sant’Agata Bolognese are part of the rapper’s basic equipment. With 9,546 mentions, Lamborghini came second in the mention parade. Only rapper Noah mentions Lamborghini in 18 of his hits.

“Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes-Benz” – Janis Joplin’s Mercedes song is probably known to everyone. With 16,415 mentions, the star-studded brand is the undisputed leader. Düsseldorf rapper Kollegah mentions “Mercedes” in only 33 songs and thus contributes a lot to the Stuttgarters’ account.
