Genesis G80: Korean business class refreshed | CAR ENGINE AND SPORTS

In 2021, the current generation of the G80 business sedan from Genesis was launched on the European market. In December 2023, the Hyundai subsidiary presented the G80 version in its home market.

New apron, new grill

When it comes to the exterior design, the Koreans remain faithful to the design of the two headlights. The front light units receive the new MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology and a new signature with it. The standard Crest grille is now crossed with a double twisted wire grille. Additional side air intakes and the removal of the horizontal bars are characteristic of the new front apron.

The rear apron has a cutout for the license plate. In addition, the exhaust pipes seen previously will be hidden under the diffuser element with a honeycomb grid design, which takes the design of the radiator grille and its use of V-shaped chrome. The flanks benefit from new 20-inch alloy rims in a five-twin design.

XXL-Show in Cockpit

While the exterior was only slightly modified, the designers were allowed to work more on the interior. Accordingly, the dashboard has a completely new design. The main feature is the 27-inch wide OLED display, which combines the instrument cluster and infotainment screen in a horizontal layout under one pane. In front of him sits a newly designed multifunction steering wheel.

After modification, the central console is easily connected to the dashboard. The transition area provides a new home for the newly programmed, responsive controls for climate and ventilation. A new crystal display switch on the center console provides even more value. The environment can be enhanced in the future with new carbon reduction features. There is also an extended color selection for interior and exterior painting.

There is still no information about possible changes to the reserve. In Germany, the G80 is only offered with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 304 hp. In other markets, a 3.5-liter V6 biturbo with 365 hp is also available. The G80 can be configured as rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. In addition, the G80 is also available as an EV with only electric drive.

Indeed, the quality of the Hyundai brand speaks for itself! No, the Germans are leaders in the premium segment!

Genesis has presented the G80 model in Korea. So far, the information has been limited to subtle changes on the outside and extensive ones in the cockpit. More details will be added step by step.
