Rivian in Germany, Cybertruck from BMW and electric pickups by BYD and Chevrolet

While the market for electric pickups is shrinking in the USA, these big machines are very attractive to Europeans!

Cybertruck in BMW

Near the BMW research center in Germany, the truck carrying the Cybertruck was real be considered the last days. Even if it was carefully placed under a large canvas, its form leaves little doubt about its content – unless it’s a big joke, who knows.

The most likely hypothesis seems to be a proper demolition in the premises of the German manufacturer.. The operation is common among car manufacturers, who do not hesitate to turn engineers’ cars to discover all their secrets. In any case, this machine cannot be driven on our roads without permission, which seems impossible due to its extreme shapes, as we saw in our new test.

Rivian in Germany

Another unusual thing in recent times, the Rivian R1S was be considered in Germany, registered with local plates.

This time, it seems more likely that the operation was carried out … by the manufacturer itself, which intends to establish itself in Europe with its Rivian R2 within two years. But maybe R1 will also make it to the Old Continent, who knows? As we saw in our Rivian R1S test, this large SUV is ultimately not too far from Range Rovers and other large 4x4s on the market in terms of dimensions and weight, and it can be driven without too many problems.

Unlike Lucid or Fisker, which are often compared, the manufacturer does wonders. It even delivered 13,980 vehicles in Q1 2024, exceeding the most optimistic forecast.. Recently, the factory was closed to produce R2 in massage along the lines of R1, due to higher than expected demand. So, will you soon find the R1S on our roads? Its direct competitor would be the Kia EV9, one of the few 7-seat electric SUVs on the market.

Chevrolet Silverado, WORLD…

Other manufacturers also seem to want to quickly release an electric pickup truck. This is the case with the Chevrolet and Silverado EV, which we finally know some of the details of.

Priced at around €100,000, it will go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, with 754 hp and 1064 nm of torque; it would be capable of towing up to 4.5t, a record. The battery should make it possible to reach 700Km of freedom (USA), or almost 1000Km WLTP! I dare to imagine the weight of the battery, the capacity of which is not revealed. However, we know the charging power of 350 kW. In V2L/V2H, it will even be able to produce an impressive 19.2 kW, an industry record!

Finally, for BYD, we are also preparing a model that will be launched at the end of 2024.. Apart from a few pictures that are somewhat reminiscent of the F-150 Electric, we do not know anything about this large 4×4 with dimensions suitable for our European roads, and which can therefore be offered in all markets.
