BYD SEAL U CONTINUES AT MILAN INNOVATION WEEK 2024

BYD, the world leader in the production of new energy vehicles (NEV), has launched the Italian preview of the BYD SEAL U, a luxury D-segment SUV and the latest model in the Sea Series.

BYD SEAL U, with its advanced design and high performance, enters the electric car market with two trim levels, Comfort (71.8 kWh battery) and Design (87 kWh), with prices starting from euro 42,890. Designed to compete with industry giants, this SUV combines aesthetic sophistication with cutting-edge technology, aiming to redefine the expectations of Italian consumers.

Design and Performance

Equipped with a powerful electric motor, the BYD SEAL U offers a unique driving experience and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The latest generation battery ensures impressive autonomy, promising up to 700 kilometers on a single charge, putting the SEAL U at the top of its category for efficiency and sustainability.

Design and Comfort

After SEAL and DOLPHIN, BYD SEAL U is the newest member of BYD’s Ocean series, designed according to the brand’s “Ocean Aesthetics” design language. The SUV has an attractive X-shaped front end with a rounded and curved design. U-shaped headlights fit into the bonnet, creating an attractive and unique identity unique to the Ocean Series, while dual lenses further enhance its high-tech look.

The fluid design and proportions continue on the side, where a strong upper shoulder line extends from the headlamps to the taillights. The side look is enhanced by 19-inch alloy wheels with a subtle gloss black finish and gloss finish. The wide rear body design complements the front sides, creating a balanced and well-planned aesthetic. The rear bumper is accented with black and silver accents, while the LED taillight design is inspired by water-drop elements, referencing the “Ocean Aesthetics” design language.

In addition to its revolutionary performance and elegant design, the BYD SEAL U is sufficient for its large and luxurious interior space. The well-finished interior offers superior comfort and a series of high-tech features, including next-generation driver assistance systems and an intuitive user interface.

Inside, the BYD SEAL U embodies a sophisticated theme with a tasteful blend of modern and stylish design, soft-touch surfaces, high-quality finishes and abundant multi-color ambient lighting. The seats, some parts of the dashboard, door panels and the center console are covered in vegetable leather with two different stitching. The “Legacy Gearshift Panel,” which includes an intricately designed crystal shift knob, reflects the theme of the ocean-derived design. Important features such as comfort, practicality and well-being inside the SEAL U are also reflected in the large, adjustable, heated and ventilated front seats as standard. The two large digital screens are direct evidence of the high-quality DNA of the brand. They contribute to ergonomics and comfort on board, thanks to the clear readability and intuitive operation of the touch screen. A sliding power roof makes the cabin bright and airy, while an internal PM 2.5 filter – which includes an air purification system on the extended trim level – ensures that all occupants breathe clean, fresh air.

BYD SEAL U has everything needed to perform well as a comfortable and practical family car. Positioned below the larger BYD TANG seven-seat SUV in BYD’s European lineup, the five-seat D-segment SUV measures 4,785 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,668 mm in height. Thanks to its generous 2,765 mm wheelbase and flat floor design, the SEAL U offers ample space for rear passengers for a comfortable ride with excellent NVH (vibration intensity) levels.

The BYD SEAL U will be offered in two trim levels (Comfort and Design) each with a specific propulsion configuration. Both versions are front wheel drive, driven by a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. With a maximum power of 160 kW and a maximum torque of up to 330 Nm from a standing start, the SEAL U is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 175 km / h.

Driving cars

The Comfort version offers a 71.8 kWh battery and a range of up to 420 km (WLTP included). The Design Edition has an 87 kWh battery and a more reliable range, up to 500 km (WLTP included). The BYD SEAL U comes standard with an 11 kW three-phase AC charger and is capable of DC speed charging up to 140 kW. This means that 27-28 minutes are enough to charge the Blade’s battery from 30% to 80 %. Comfortable range and low energy consumption are not only achieved thanks to the revolutionary BYD SEAL U battery of the Blade with a low drag coefficient of only 0.32 Cd, but also thanks to its excellent 8-in-1 electric training. This technology integrates eight key components, improving space utilization and system efficiency up to 88%. In addition, BYD’s 8-in-1 powertrain works in close cooperation with a high-efficiency heat pump system to precisely control the battery’s temperature, to get the most out of the battery in all conditions and weather.
