The wait is almost over for the debut of BYD’s new plug-in, dubbed “Shark.” This revolutionary car is all set to make its debut at the next Beijing Auto Show. Although BYD has only released a teaser in which the car is seen in silhouette, thanks to a series of photos and spy shots released by the automaker itself, we already have an idea of the lines of the new image.

The car is specially designed for the international market and will have a length of 5,457 mm, a width of 1,971 mm and a wheelbase of 3,260 mm. The car will be built on the Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) platform, the same one used for BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao Leopard 5 model.

Propulsion system

Currently, no official information on the specifications of the propulsion system is available. However, BYD previously mentioned a system power of around 350 kW. Considering the adoption of the DMO platform, it is possible that the propulsion system will be the same as the Bao Leopard 5 model. In this case, the car would have a 143 kW 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine, on the side. – on the side with two electric motors, one installed on the front axle and one on the rear. The platform also allows the integration of a 180 kW 2-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine.
