Range Rover EV: The new 4×4 electric SUV is shown in the test cooler

Land Rover was previously revealed Plans for an electric SUV for 2024 were previously revealed, and as the year draws to a close, it looks like the luxury car company is making good on its promises. Recently, Land Rover showed a Its electric Range Rover, showing impressive handling on ice and giving some insight into a special sounding train.

Beyond just confirming that the Range Rover EV is on the way, Land Rover also released some information about its powertrain configuration, which is an in-house system assembled, but likely not built, by JLR. Land Rover says the new electric traction control system can direct power and torque on an individual basis – rather than relying on ABS torque vectoring – with a response time of just milliseconds.

There is no word on how many engines the Range Rover EV will have, but given the Range Rover’s history of all-wheel drive, there will most likely be two engines. If what Land Rover says about its traction control system is true, the three- or four-engine setup will deliver impressive performance under the best of on- and off-road conditions.

The exterior of the electric Range Rover looks similar to that of its ICE counterparts, however – a design that was recently updated in a way that will likely still look modern to many consumers, even a few years later.

Both launch and pricing are up in the air at the moment, but cold-weather testing like this usually takes place near the end of the production cycle, suggesting a 2024 launch window is possible.

If the Range Rover Electric is launched at a price close to the $100,000 mark Tesla Cybertruckcould give America’s two electric car makers a run for their money in the luxury sector. Mercedes-Benz is also expected to launch an electric G-Wagon soon while the electric Audi Q8 e-tron proven to have Impressive off-road performance, despite its luxurious underpinnings.
