New Women’s World Championship: First combined test in May/Women’s Motorcycle World Championship

The first round of the Women’s Cycling World Championships is upon us. However, ten weeks before the opening ceremony, the participants have not yet met, so the test is scheduled for May.

Similar Yamaha R7s will be used in the Women’s World Championship, which will be held for the first time in 2024. The field of participants includes 24 regular drivers. Ana Carrasco and Beatriz Neila are internationally known, both of whom have already participated in a series of World Cup championships.

While the two Spaniards and certainly more than the Europeans already know each other, the founders from Africa, Asia, Oceania and South and North America sometimes have not met their teams. Before the season opener in Misano, the entire field of participants will meet for the first time at the test organized by Dorna in Cremona on May 16 and 17.

“A two-day training session is planned at the Cremona Circuit in May. We will meet them and their teams there,” said SBK manager Gregorio Lavilla in Barcelona. And there will be opportunities for each participant to research their own team, motorcycle and environment. We have set ourselves a goal within the Dorna Group to do something different within the scope of our possibilities.”

For the first time, a series-related world championship event will be held on the slopes of Italy in September from September 20 to 22, as part of the 2024 Women’s World Cup.
