Ford Alludes to 2024 F-150 Electric Delivery | Car news

As Earth Day approaches, it’s an electric week at Auto123 as our news covers what’s happening and what’s happening in this world.

• Ford is resuming deliveries of its 2024 F-150 electric sedan this week.

In early February, Ford stopped delivering the electric F-150 to its dealers after realizing a quality issue. Production remained active at the Ford Rouge plant in Michigan.

It was not known how long this action would last. Now it’s over as the company starts delivering its electric pickup truck to its dealers again.

Unfortunately, the car benefits from a price adjustment.

For 2024 we get essentially the same variants with the same capacity, i.e. versions with 98 kWh or 131 kWh batteries, and announced ranges between 386 and 515 km.

What will be pursued is the actual freedom of the model. We know that it melts during towing operations, but a recent test of the 2023 version (empty) left us speechless. After picking up the car which showed a range of 516 km, we were surprised to see that after traveling 117 km, the indicator only confirmed 295 km of remaining range (so maybe less).

On the highway, it melts in appearance. In heavy traffic, it remains stable, although we can get a little relief.

Updates must be done in 2024 style Let’s hope for a fix on this side, because what is announced is not achievable. The car must, among other things, benefit from a steam injection heat pump, which should increase energy efficiency in cold weather, according to Ford.

A new version called Flash is also added to the catalog this year. It is intended to be an improved version of the XLT variant, which will allow buyers to benefit from a well-equipped model, without having to climb to the top of the range. The Flash Edition will be priced at $86,995 domestically, and will offer features such as a 15.5-inch touchscreen multimedia system, wireless charging for mobile devices, an eight-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, Blue Cruise semi -autonomous. drive system, towing group, battery heat pump, plus power tailgate.

Despite the suspension of deliveries and vehicle malfunctions, sales of the F-150 Electric remained flat in the first quarter of the year, although the company indicates that the 7,743 units sold represent an 80% increase compared to the same period last year. .

Two factors will work for and against this trend in the coming months. First, the fact that buyers of the F-150 Electric can now take advantage of Tesla’s payment network, which is very welcome. However, consumers will soon be able to buy electric pickup trucks from Chevrolet and GMC; if the latter will be more effective in terms of autonomous management, Ford will have a job to do.

Customers can also turn to Tesla for the Cybertruck (or Rivian which offers the R1T), but these electric vehicles are not aimed at the same customers.
