CAR: Le Mans Classic, from June 29 to July 2

The Auto Tour with its various landscapes, its historic cars, its traditional circuits, is over and we will have to wait a year before it leaves!

LE MANS CLASSIC

From June 29 to July 2, 2023, we will enjoy the Le Mans Classic edition that will celebrate 100 years of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. More than 700 cars in the race, 6 traditional grids, 4 support races and more than 200,000 expected spectators.

IN THE MYSTERY…

This celebration of 100 years of the 24 Hours of Le Mans had to welcome a new and unprecedented series. Working with Benjafield Racing Club, Peter Auto collects over 70 pre-war Bentleys to pay tribute to the races Bentley won five times between 1923 and 1930.

For the record, the first edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1923, was to be held without a Bentley. Walter Owen Bentley, the founder of the brand, convinced that the cars could not run for 24 hours. John Duff and Frank Clement insisted and planned the Bentley 3 Liter (#8) at first. Under the watchful eye of Walter Owen Bentley, they finished fourth following a technical problem, after leading for a good part of the race.

The following year, Bentley won its first 24 Hours of Le Mans and achieved four victories between 1927 and 1930. For the centenary of the event, Bentley #8 will be there, an opportunity to admire this masterpiece of the period.

There is what happens on the track and what happens outside. And at Le Mans Classic, the “Hors-Piste” is already preparing to welcome and celebrate its centenary with an exhibition that should not be missed.

“1923 – Introductory brands of the 24 Hours of Le Mans” To celebrate the centenary, it is already important to step back in time and follow a lesson in history. Who better than the French Federation of Classic Cars could bring together the brands that had the courage to start the first edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. For this unique occasion, this exhibition proposes to present an example next to each of these 17 brands imported in 1923.

From New Zealand to the Le Mans Classic

The event brings together Fred and Elisabeth, a couple from New Zealand, on one side, and their car, a Mercedes 220S, on the other. In 2014, these globetrotters began to discover the world and places to celebrate the success of Mercedes: from Mexico and the Carrera Panamerica, to Germany at the Nürburgring, through Italy and the Mille Miglia. , finish in France, at the Le Mans Classic. , it is certain that their Mercedes 220S, displayed inside the Mercedes-Benz Club France, will attract the attention of the public.
