Carlos Sainz: declaration of war against Max Verstappen / Formula 1

At the beginning of the season, Carlos Sainz had trouble coping with the characteristics of his Ferrari car. He has improved now. That gives him hope of being able to put pressure on Max Verstappen in 2023.

Compared to his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz initially had a hard time with the current GP racer from Maranello. But as the season progressed, the Spaniard was able to improve. The 28-year-old is still far from the hot form of champion Max Verstappen.

A look at the World Cup table confirms that. While Verstappen has had six wins and 158 points since the end of the summer break, Sainz had to settle for just 56 World Cup points. However, the current World Championship has six dreams to make life difficult for the Red Bull Championship star next year.

Sainz says of Verstappen’s dominance this year: “Of course you don’t expect that, especially when you had such a good car at the start. In fact, I wish I could have felt better in the car in the first few races, to make it harder for Max and to be able to fight more and Charles.”

“My goal is to be at today’s level from the beginning of next year so I can make it a little harder for Max,” explains the Ferrari driver, who classifies his current performance as “satisfactory”. “I have full confidence that our team will put another good car on the road. And we will learn from the mistakes we made this year.”
