The Polestar 2 will not be updated, the Polestar 7 will arrive in its place

The Polestar 2electric car that marked the Swedish brand’s entry into the world of battery-powered cars, is getting ready to hand over the baton. Polestar 7 will arrive in its placewhich will not be a simple successor, but rather an evolution.

Introduced in 2020, Polestar 2 played an important role in positioning the brand as a luxury electric car manufacturer. The perfect combination of high performance and Scandinavian design, the Polestar 2 has carved out an important position in the electric sedan segment, becoming the market leader in several countries such as Norway, Sweden, Germany and Belgium. Plus and more 150,000 units sold in 26 countries around the world and with frequent updates that have included new features, bigger batteries, more powerful engines and new types of propulsion system, Polestar 2 has been able to win over the public.

However, CEO Thomas Ingenlath announced thatThe Polestar 2 will not only be replaced by an updated version. His legacy will be collected by Polestar 7, expected around 2027, which will take the same market place as the 2 without being a direct descendant. This strategic choice, explains Ingenlath, aims avoid sticking to the one-car concept, as happened to other brands with iconic models handed down for generations. In this sense, the Polestar 7 represents a creative leap from tradition.

Still shrouded in mystery, the Polestar 7 is expected to be the base SEA Forum prepared by the parent company Geelythe same one used for the Polestar 4. This option marks a difference compared to the Polestar 2, which it uses Volvo CMA multi-energy platform. The new base should allow us to eliminate the defects that the Polestar 2 still has, as it is partly associated with the world of the last cars. More details on the technical specifications, design and features of the Polestar 7 will be presented in the coming days.
