Chaos reigned at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru after thirty international passengers were mistakenly dropped off at the domestic arrivals gate, causing disruption to the normal functioning of the airport.
According to reports, the passengers were arriving from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a SpiceJet flight and disembarked at the domestic arrivals gate instead of the international arrivals gate. The passengers, who were unaware of the error, had to wait for more than an hour before being ushered to the correct gate.
The incident resulted in a backlog of domestic passengers at the terminal and caused confusion amongst the travelers. Airport authorities had to assign additional staff to handle the situation and ensure that normal operations resumed.
A spokesperson from SpiceJet said that the airline is investigating the matter and has initiated corrective measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The incident highlights the need for airport authorities to remain vigilant about passenger safety and efficiency. It is essential that systems are in place to ensure that such errors are avoided and that passengers are provided with a seamless experience.
