Chery launches E0X platform for new electric models

Wuhu-headquartered Chery Automobile, founded in 1997, has established itself as one of China’s leading car dealers. Now the company is taking steps towards Europe. The new E0X platform will play a key role in this. Designed specifically for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. In the next two years, Chery plans to bring up to 15 electric cars and 24 plug-in hybrids to the road depending on the platform. The platform is intended to cover a wide range of body shapes in the A to C segment, including variants with up to seven seats.

Additionally, a variety of vehicle types are supported by the E0X platform, including front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Exeed, a brand of Chinese automaker Chery, has launched the Exeed Sterra ES electric sedan on this platform. This electric car has been available to customers in China since the end of December and starts there at a price of around 29,000 euros. The Exeed Sterra ES will also come to Europe. But then under the brand name Exlantix.

In addition to Exlantix, the platform is also used by Omoda and Jaecoo brands. Omoda plans to introduce the brand’s first electric vehicle in Germany, the Omoda 5 EV, in the first half of 2024. Jaecoo, on the other hand, aims to please off-road fans with the small SUV Jaecoo 7 and the larger Jaecoo 8, although technical details are still pending.

An electric sedan is followed, how could it be otherwise, by an electric SUV. In this case Exlantix ET, as it will be called in Europe. In China this is listed as the Exeed Sterra ET. Viewed from the rear, the E-SUV looks like a Porsche Macan at first glance, but when viewed from the side it reveals itself with a long wheelbase and unique design.

Another focus is on the electronic architecture of the EEA 5.0, which has a computing power of up to 1000 peaks (terabytes of operations per second). The E0X system is also intended to achieve the highest standards in five areas of safety: passive safety, active safety, battery safety, functional safety and information safety. Charlie Zhang, Executive Vice President at Chery International, emphasizes the importance of the E0X platform for the future of the company. It features flexibility that supports PHEV and pure EV systems.

As defined by EAN, the “E” in E0X stands for “Electric” and emphasizes Chery’s commitment to the new energy sector. “0” marks a new technical start and the beginning of a journey in the upper NEV sector, while “X” represents the various options for platform expansion, which includes a variety of models and seating configurations.
