Chevrolet Camaro: The end of a muscle car legend

The end of the cult car: Chevrolet will soon stop production of the sixth generation Camaro. But fans can still hope.

Chevrolet will release the last models of the sixth-generation Camaro muscle car in January 2024. With this, the Americans are ending the series after a nine-year production period – after almost 60 years of construction. The first generation sports car rolled off the assembly line in 1966, with a six-cylinder engine and an inline V8. There will be a final release with a Collector’s Edition package in the USA in the summer.

But fans can breathe a sigh of relief: the imminent suspension of production will not mark the end of the Camaro model name, as Chevrolet has officially announced. The Americans leave it open when and how the successor will be presented. It seems that the American automaker wants to take its time with the new Camaro, which, it is assumed, will be powered by electricity instead of V8 engines.

Unfortunately, the hiatus is not the only one in the Camaro’s history: Chevrolet stopped production of the fourth generation in 2002 due to declining sales figures. The fifth, current version came to market in 2009 and then the sixth in 2015.
