The latest generation Chevrolet Corvette Z06 saw the light of day at the NAIAS show in Detroit.
The powerful Corvette Z06 received a V8 power unit with a capacity of 6.2 liters, supported by an Eaton compressor and intercooler.
The unit develops “at least” 625 hp and 861 Nm of torque.
The engine is mated to a 7-speed manual gearbox or a new 8-speed automatic gearbox. The new automatic gearbox has five sticks, and the specifications do not differ from the automatic 6-speed gearbox fitted to the Stingray model; it is also 4 kg lighter and 5% more efficient due to reduced internal friction.
The car is distinguished by an aero package made of carbon fiber, which includes, among others, front and rear spoilers and side skirts. Customers who purchase the optional Z07 package will have larger ailerons, Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup tires, a transparent rear spoiler and carbon-ceramic brake discs. The company boasts that the Corvette equipped with the Z07 package achieves the highest deceleration of all models produced by GM when driving.
The new Corvette also received 19-inch front rims (P285 / 30ZR19 tires) and 20-inch rear rims (P285 / 30ZR19). Novel is a removable roof panel made of carbon fiber, which has allowed to increase the rigidity of the body by 60 percent.
The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will go on sale early next year.
