The first Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was auctioned for a record price

The very first Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 has sold for a whopping $3.6 million. Never before has Chevrolet managed to add such a high standard to an all-new Corvette. Sale price goes to a good cause.

Chevrolet has now made a habit of putting a special production number under the hammer. The very first copy of the Corvette C8 was auctioned earlier, while the automaker also had the first production number C7 ZR1 auctioned. In all cases, the amount donated goes to a good cause. The $3.6 million raised by the first generation C8 Z06 will go to Operation Homefront, an American organization that supports military personnel and their families. 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition in Carbon Flash Metallic

70th Anniversary Edition

The auctioned Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 is not only the first example of the new supermodel, the car is the first from a special 70th Anniversary Edition series. In 2023, the Corvette will have been around for exactly 70 years and in the lead up to the anniversary, Chevrolet will offer special edition sports car. This 70th Anniversary Edition Corvette is available as a Stingray and as a Z06. So the first version of the final version is put under the hammer. The production number 001 was not yet available before the auction, because it has yet to be built. Chevrolet had the classic Corvette on the podium. None other than former Corvette Racing driver Oliver Gavin did this. He put his right foot on the gas pedal, which in a hammered car comes into contact with the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in a Corvette ever.

Barrett-Jackson was allowed to conduct the auction as usual. The company originally produced the first Corvette Stingray for three million dollars. For the first ZR1 of the seventh generation Corvette, the auction house managed to get bidders up to $925,000.

The Corvette Z06 will go into production later this year. Beginning in the 2023 model year, Chevrolet will also build the Corvette as a 70th Anniversary Edition.
