General Motors has a partnership with SAIC, which will build the Finder in China
This model is positioned between the Trailblazer and the Equinox in terms of size
This model may be sold here in the next few years
Chevrolet recently launched a new subcompact SUV in China, The Seeker, and that model could go on sale here in a few years.
The Chevrolet Seeker is a small SUV that fills the gap between the smaller Trailblazer and the compact Equinox in the brand’s lineup.
In terms of design, this new SUV shares many features with the Trailblazer and Blazer, giving it a more modern and sporty look than the Equinox and other flagship products from General Motors.
The front has the same split headlight design as the Blazer and Trailblazer, while the rear has a unique look compared to other GM SUVs.
Inside, the Finder has two screens that serve as the infotainment system and the instrument cluster, but although they are connected to each other, the two screens are not integrated into a single panel, as seen in many new GM products.
The RS version shown in the first pictures published by the manufacturer seems to be well-equipped, with electrically operated leather seats, also heated and ventilated, and an infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay wireless system and Internet updates.
Under the hood, the Seeker will have a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with a CVT transmission. According to the leaked documents, this engine should produce around 177 horsepower, but Chevrolet did not confirm this, and did not say anything about front- or all-wheel drive.
Since this model was designed with China as its primary market, it makes sense that the Finder would be developed there by SAIC, with whom General Motors already has a partnership.
If General Motors decides to bring this model to North America, it will be only the second Chinese-built GM car available here, after the Buick Envision.
It could happen as prototypes have been spotted driving around the automaker’s Detroit headquarters, suggesting the company is considering bringing the Finder to the US and Canada.
In addition to China and North America, other markets for this new car include South Korea, where GM currently makes many subcompact models sold around the world, including the Trailblazer and Buick.GX again.
