CUPRA Born VZ – small but crazy. 326 HP on the rear axle

It seems that the Cupra, true to its roots, can give us the most interesting electric hatch in recent years. It may not have record-breaking power, but 326 HP driving the rear axle must be a lot of fun.

The Cupra Born VZ is impressive

Cupra Born has not conquered the market so far. Volkswagen’s Spanish-derived 3-twin ID looks good, but technically it’s still an average MEB platform, which hasn’t enjoyed much interest in recent months. More than 45,000 were sold last year. parts of these cars. However, the latest Born Born VZ model promises to be very interesting. Not only does it look great, like a real hot hatch, but it also has specs that should give potential buyers a lot of fun. At first glance, the VZ version stands out from the standard model with large rims (20 inches), new body colors and details that add a more powerful appearance.

However, the biggest changes took place below. Cupra Born VZ uses the refreshed MEB platform, which provides not only a more efficient battery (79 kWh, instead of the previous 77 kWh) but also a more powerful engine – 326 HP, which only drives the rear axle. In addition, it is capable of producing up to 545 Nm of torque. In both cases, it’s more of a base version, which translates directly into performance. Born VZ accelerates to 100 km / h in just 5.7 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 200 km / h (in the basic model it is 160 km / h). All this means that this electrician will definitely not be boring.

In addition, due to the use of a large battery, the maximum charging power has also increased, which is now equal to 170 kW and will allow you to charge the battery from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes. Cupra Born VZ will also have a special range – thanks to the battery a little bigger, it will be about 570 kilometers, which puts this model in a certain avant-garde of electric cars. Among the new technological solutions used in this car, the engineers from Barcelona focused on a 12.9-inch horizontal infotainment system (0.9 inches larger than the CUPRA Born model) and an optional 10-inch speaker system with a power of 425 watts. , designed in collaboration with Senheiser.
