Sisters Roos and Lotus shed tears while cleaning their dead father’s belongings in Je Huis op Orde | RTL Boulevard

Viktor Brand (53) and cleaning coach Quirine Molhuysen visit sisters Roos (23) and Lotus (21) in Heerhugowaard in ‘Your Organized House’. When their father died suddenly 1.5 years ago, the sisters suddenly found themselves alone. Their father’s personal belongings are still everywhere and literally and figuratively create a barrier between the sisters. This creates a tense atmosphere in the house.

“When we heard he was sick, two weeks later he was gone.”

Chaos in the house leads to frequent conflicts and arguments. Leaving their father’s belongings and renovating the house is very difficult and challenging for the sisters. Fortunately, help from Viktor and Quirine comes at the right time.

The sisters admit that they still haven’t accepted the loss of their father. When Viktor asks about this, Roos’ emotions become overwhelming. “This makes me emotional,” she cries. “This is not what I wanted.” They just went on with their lives, not taking time to reflect on what they have been through together.

“You have to set priorities,” Roos explains. That is why he has focused more on financial matters, to ensure that they can continue to support themselves. Everything else has faded into the background, leaving the house in chaos. “I’m embarrassed to invite my friends,” Lotus admits.

The big cleanup can finally begin, luckily with a lot of outside help. The contents of Roos and Lotus are finally displayed in a large warehouse of 2,000 square meters. Everything has been downloaded and organized neatly, giving the sisters a good overview of all their belongings. They discover that they have, among other things, 23 horse blankets, 108 plants (45 of which are dead), more than a thousand toy horses, 107 soap blocks, 129 soap bottles and 112 dirty towels.

After arriving at the warehouse, Roos and Lotus are overwhelmed by the amount of items. As they begin to plan, they quickly become involved in a discussion about the division of household chores. “I don’t think I need to do this, as I already do all the other work,” Roos insists.

As soon as Viktor takes the sisters to the yellow closet, filled with their father’s belongings, tears stream down their cheeks. “It’s so hard that everything happened so fast,” Lotus cries. “When we heard he was sick, two weeks later he was gone.”

When asked to describe their father in a few words, they lovingly call him “a man with a heart of gold.” Viktor suggests making a special place in the house in memory of their father. Roos and Lotus respond enthusiastically and carefully select a few items, including his favorite beer mug and the photo that was on his coffin at the funeral.

After Roos and Lotus arrange all the items in the warehouse, the team takes over Your House in Order the very work of building a comfortable and orderly home.

The sisters can’t believe their eyes when they walk through their ‘new’ home. “Wow, how empty,” they shout at the same time. Lotus focuses her attention mainly on the laundry basket in the corner of her room. From now on, he will wash the towels regularly, so that the dirty ones are no longer scattered around the house. The sisters are very grateful to Viktor and Quirine and promise that from now on they will argue less and take care of the house nicely.
