Chery wants to bring combustion engines and electric cars to Germany


According to reports, another Chinese car maker, Chery, is about to launch in Germany. According to information from the company WirtschaftsWoche on three brands and several types of vehicle. Accordingly, after market entries in Spain, Mexico, Israel, Turkey, Kuwait, Australia and New Zealand, the launch in Germany will take place with the Omoda, Jaecoo and Exlantix brands.

The Omoda 5 hybrid is scheduled to be introduced in Germany in spring 2024, initially as a combustion engine and later as an electric vehicle variant with a WLTP range of 450 km. A plug-in hybrid is also “thinkable”. The brand aims to provide “future competition for the future,” according to Charlie Zhang, global executive vice president of Chery Automobile.

According to the report, Land Rover-style SUVs are planned for the Jaecoo brand: the compact SUV Jaecoo 7 and the large Jaecoo 8. There is no information yet on the drives for these models. The Jaecoo 7 will be similar in size to the Omoda 5, but not the latter, according to reports.

Pure electric car brand Exlantix will be, according to WirtschaftsWoche brought to Europe later. The SUV E0Y and the sedan E03 have been previously planned. Both vehicles are 4.90 meters long and have a 64 kWh battery for a range of 430 km or an 82 kWh option for more than 500 km per charge. Later there may be a version with more than 700 km.

Chery can also build cars in this country, talks with local manufacturers about production facilities are already underway.
