McLaren makes clear its aim for the constructors’ championship

There were doubts about McLaren’s performance at the start of the season. If the winter tests showed a better start to the season than the last one, where the British team slept at the back of the national grid, we were waiting to see if it will continue to play with the best teams at the end of 2023. . The team at Woking finally quickly showed us its potential, with the first podium in Australia, and the ability to play against Aston Martin and Mercedes on a regular basis. Andrea Stella, the team’s director, said she was satisfied with their current position.

“We are happy, once again we are the third team with the most points, which enables us to strengthen our third place in the championship. I think, looking at the statistics, if we can take the third place in the championship, it would be possible to be a good result for our team.”

Development for 2025-2026 is already guaranteed

Second, the Italian, who has been in the position since last year, says he wants to compete with the Scuderia regularly, but is more focused on single-seater development. Showing high ambitions will not increase the results of the race according to him.

“There are even circuits like here (Suzuka) where we feel like we can compete with Ferrari. So we say “why not?”. But in all reality, all you think about in Formula 1 is to push as hard as you can. As a team you try to develop your car as much as possible. as much as you can, speed up the race weekend and then try to see where you are at the end. It won’t make much difference to us saying we want to finish P2 or P1, because we’re building the car as fast as we can.”

The manager of the papaya team also gave information on the future of McLaren, which seems to be sustainable.

“You can say that we are focusing our resources more in the future, for 2025 and 2026, but in fact the team is in a good position of resources for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. We will see at the end of the season. After our progress is presented in the Miami GP, we will have more information to see what we can compete with.
