The EXITIME project, conceived by the FontanaMIX group and implemented since 2004, intends to explore the music of Luigi Nono in 2024, the year in which the centenary of his birth takes place, “not so much to look back with nostalgia, but to maintain a high level of attention on these great forces of the twentieth century, which launched the theories of invention and of which we are children – says Francesco La Licata, musical director of FontanaMIX and creator of the event – and the musical navigation of Luigi Nono continues with ‘a wide pattern to our present times, with artificial neural networks and the complex relationship between artificial intelligence and music creation. From here comes a reflection on the ethical challenges posed by artificial intelligence.” Understanding what music culture offers, therefore, and combining it with current events, and its challenges, with new musicians and with a special focus on young people is the real goal of the project.
