How do all-season tires fare on a sports car? In Germany two tire tests asked this question, which to some participants may seem like a beast, and it really is. The first test rejected the idea.

Finally, the Bridgestone Turanza All Season promises exemplary driving behavior in all weather conditions, strong handling in dry and wet conditions and good value for money. Followed, in fifth and sixth place with a good rating, is Quadraxer 3 Of Glue andN’Blue 4Season 2 Of Nexen. The French tire, a second-tier brand owned by Michelin, is an all-rounder with convincing characteristics for driving on snow and ice, short stopping distance on dry surfaces, good comfort and affordable price. However, it has a certain tendency to decrease on dry roads.

The Korean product, on the other hand, offers a good stand in the snow, a stable and safe driving behavior in all weather conditions and also in this case an affordable price. But in the case of aquaplaning its performance is “just right.”

In seventh place we find the Continental AllSeasonContact, which gets a fair rating. Continental will not be too satisfied, neither with the position of its products, nor with the fact that the original tire was really tested: the new AllSeasonContact 2 has been on the market since spring last year offering good winter characteristics, stable handling on wet surfaces, short distance of stand on wet surfaces with less rolling resistance, thus reducing fuel consumption. On the other hand, the dry performance is “just fair”, and the aquaplaning characteristics are “average”.

The lower the rank, the shorter the strengths and the longer the weaknesses. We recommend tires with space Falken EuroAll Season AS220 Pro, Vredestein Quatrac Pro e Toyo Celsius AS2.

The Falken has good traction and a short stopping distance in snow and strong handling on dry surfaces, but behavior is poor on snowy and wet roads and reserves are average in the event of aquaplaning. Vredestein Quatrac Pro has good winter characteristics and stable driving behavior on snow and dry surfaces.

However, the wet grip is only decent, the stopping distance in wet and dry conditions is extended in the rain and the reserve in the event of aquaplaning is low. Finally, the Toyo Celsius AS2 features stable handling in dry conditions, short stopping distances in snow and low rolling resistance resulting in fuel savings. However, the winter characteristics are just the same, the driving behavior in snow and rain is slightly lower and the stopping distance on wet surfaces is extended.

The eleventh, last and least recommended one comes DASP-Plus 4-Seasons Chinese brand Two Coins. This product does not have a single guarantee, not even the price. The list of weaknesses, however, is long: a dangerously long braking distance on wet roads, less stability on wet/dry roads, less reserve in the event of aquaplaning, spongy steering behavior.
