From Monday 12 February 2024, work is due to begin on the reconstruction of Croydon Road in Caterham and will take approximately eleven months to complete. This will make Croydon Road a safe, attractive and attractive place to visit, work and enjoy.


Walker Construction has been contracted to carry out this work.


From on monday 12 February, the site plot, in front of the play area at Timber Hill Park, will be created for Walker Construction to use. This means parking lots on Timber Hill Road will be suspended 12 February to 20 December 2024.


From on monday 26 February to 9 December 2024A traffic management plan will be put in place on Croydon Road, which includes traffic lights and road closures.


What’s going on?


Works being carried out to improve Croydon Road include:


  • Important surface water maintenance.
  • Widen and improve footpaths and install new pavement.
  • Planting more trees and greenery and setting up rain gardens, which will help manage surface water sustainably.
  • Improvements to parking and bus lanes and the installation of two electric vehicle charging stations.
  • Installation of sustainable urban drainage systems under the surface of parking areas and footpaths.
  • Installation of desks and chairs.


Sometimes we will need to temporarily close the asphalt sections. Alternative routes will be set up. Please use these methods for your safety.
