Cowboys Trade for Wide Receiver Brandin Cooks, Send Picks to Texans – NBC New York

The Dallas Cowboys have acquired wide receiver Brandin Cooks in a trade with the Houston Texans. The deal, which was made public on Tuesday, includes the Cowboys sending a pair of undisclosed draft picks to the Texans in exchange for Cooks.

The Cowboys have long been in the market for a wide receiver, and Cooks is expected to fill the void left by the departure of Randall Cobb. Cooks, who is entering his eighth NFL season, has a history of producing at the highest level, having led the NFL in receiving yards twice in 2015 and 2016.

He is also a two-time Pro Bowler and was a first-team All-Pro in 2018. Cooks has recorded at least 500 receiving yards in five of his seven NFL seasons and is coming off a 2019 campaign in which he caught 53 passes for 1,100 yards and four touchdowns.

The move is a big boost to the Cowboys’ offense, and Cooks’ presence could be instrumental in the team’s quest for a Super Bowl. Cooks will join Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup in a receiving corps that is now among the best in the league.

The Cowboys are hoping that Cooks’ veteran presence and Pro Bowl pedigree will help bolster an offense that ranked 12th in the league in passing yards last season. With Cooks in the mix, the Cowboys could be in line for a much-improved passing attack in 2020.

The Cowboys have pulled off a major coup with the acquisition of Cooks, and the team’s fans will be hoping that the veteran wide receiver can make an immediate impact in Dallas.
