Future MGs will have the same design as the Bugatti Veyron

In full swing, Chinese manufacturer MG Motor has chosen its new designer from the competition. Jozef Kaban, who has worked for many brands in the Volkswagen and BMW groups, is setting up shop at MG Motor’s design center. At the same time, he became the Vice President of the design center of SAIC.

You may not know the name Jozef Kaban, but you have definitely come across cars with his pen. After a Master of Arts degree at the Royal College of Art in London in 1997, he began his career at Volkswagen by designing the Lupo and its cousin, the Seat Arosa. At 25, he continued with Bugatti to maintain the Veyron, both inside and out. It is precisely for this Franco-German supercar that it is recognized worldwide, with a design that is recognized among thousands. Later, he became head of exterior design at Audi, then came to Skoda in 2008 and completely cleaned up its image by launching the new Octavia, Fabia, Yeti and Kodiaq. The man also had a quick position at BMW (from 2017 to 2019) and Rolls-Royce (just six months), before returning to the Volkswagen group, first for the VW brand between 2020 and 2023, then for the development of ” future mobility. solution” since 2023.

Good revenge

Kaban apparently failed to impress VW brand CEO Thomas Schäfer and the board of directors with his work on the ID.2 city car. It appears to have been shelved by Volkswagen management in 2023 on behalf of Andreas Mindt (ex-Bentley). So the 51-year-old is retaliating by moving to MG, a booming brand that should give him greater scope for expression. Especially since the manufacturer celebrates its centenary in 2024, and do not hesitate to make a link with its past, especially with the return of the roadster and Cyberster.

However, we will have to wait several months before we see the touch of Jozef Kaban in MG. It will probably debut with a concept next year, to reveal the style of future MGs. It will continue!
