Trident is becoming a lightning rod. Because Maserati is focusing on electrification and is now launching the GranCabrio, the first open-top luxury car.

Rimini – Maserati shows a heart for lovers of fresh air and a suitable wallet. The sports car maker is bringing the Coupe GranTurismo, which was introduced last year, as a convertible. And as if that wasn’t unusual enough for the times convertibles die, the Italians are also creating the first electronic convertible in the luxury segment with the Folgore design variant.

The Stellantis subsidiary Maserati has now announced this at a big show party in Rimini and announced a market launch for the summer. Prices for a combustion engine like the Trofeo start at 231,035 euros, the electric conversion starts at 206,713 euros. There is a 2+2 seat 4.97 meters long and a fabric roof that folds into the trunk in 14 seconds – up to 50 km/h, even while driving. To protect against cold and drafts, there is a neck warmer and a wind deflector as standard.

That is the power of electric drives and those with combustion engines

According to Maserati, the GranCabrio is a combustion engine with a 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 404 kW/550 hp and enables a top speed of 316 km/h. The E version uses three engines that produce up to 610 kW / 830 hp and thus accelerate to 290 km / h. The energy for this is provided by a 92.5 kWh battery, which the Maserati claims a range of 442 kilometers.

After the GranCoupé and the Grecale SUV, the convertible is the third electric Maserati – with more to come. The Italians have also announced the Folgore version of the MC20 super sports car and want to launch a second SUV and sedan so that all models will be electric by 2028. dpa
