Cupra and Polestar are young brands, but both focus on the high safety of their models. This has been confirmed by the latest tests carried out by the renowned organization Euro NCAP. The tests were based on the Seat Leon, the compact crossover Cupra Formentor and the all-electric, raised sedan Polestar 2 (the car is manufactured in China by Geely and released in some markets in Europe, unfortunately Poland is not yet among them).
Euro NCAP awarded the tested models the following scores in each category:

Both models offer a very high level of protection for travelers and other road users who may be hit. In the latter case, Polestar is supported by, among others, getting high scores from Cupra. active bonnet: after detecting the impact of pedestrians and the bumper, the mechanism on the hinge instantly raises the bonnet by several centimeters to remove it from the engine and thus increase the possibility of absorbing the impact.
Crashtest Euro NCAP – Cupra Formentor and Polestar 2 with central airbags
It is also worth noting that both models still have a new solution, which is the central airbag (placed between the seats, to protect against a collision between the driver and the passenger in the event of a side impact). On the other hand, the knee airbag on the driver’s side is offered as an option only for the Formentor (the tested copy, however, did not have it) – the Polestar 2 does not have such a solution, even at an additional cost. The same applies to the rear side airbags.
Both models also have collision avoidance systems that detect pedestrians (including children) and cyclists. Euro NCAP experts rated the performance of these systems slightly higher in the Polestar (13.5/18 points) than in the Cupra (11.6/18 points).
Detailed reports prepared by the Euro NCAP team can be found here on this Cupra Formentor link and here for the Polestar 2. Below are videos showing a number of crash tests and the operation of the support systems.
Crashtest Euro NCAP – supported by Renault Arkana and Lexus UX 300e
In addition, Euro NCAP also looked at models for volume Renault Arkana and fully electric Lexus UX 300e (without making collisions). Here, however, the 2019 rating scheme was based on, because these models are considered as variants of the previously tested Renault Captur and Lexus UX (so far they have been tested as a 250h hybrid). Therefore, they are not fully comparable to the scores given to Cupra and Polestar.

Euro NCAP regularly strengthens its testing procedures. The last major update of the standards took place in 2020, i.e. the results of the Cupra Formentor and Polestar 2 are compared to all tests carried out in the previous year.
