Assen: The IDM champion arrives on the podium of the World Championship / IDM Supersport 300

You were able to catch up with old friends last weekend when you attended the World Cup in Assen, Holland. Inigo Iglesias and Petr Svobda collect trophies for the stage.

Inigo Iglesias already had success in Assen, Holland, in the 2023 season. Finally, the Kawasaki rider won the title in the IDM Supersport 300. Petr Svoboda was also a regular visitor to IDM. Both are competing in Supersport 300-W this year; for Füsport – RT Motorsports and the SKM – Kawasaki team.

“It was an exciting and important weekend for Füsport – RT Motorsports and SKM – Kawasaki at the TT Circuit Assen in the WorldSSP300, during the Dutch round of WorldSBK,” reports team boss Rob Vennegoor. “But the weather was tough all weekend. Rain, sun and low temperatures made the conditions very difficult for the drivers.”

On the first day, Petr Svoboda qualified in a promising third place, while Inigo Iglesias lost his place on the front row due to overtaking under the yellow flag. As a result, he had to start from 13th place.

But in Race 1 on Saturday, Iglesias proved his starting position was no obstacle. He quickly picked off one competitor after another to finish a strong third, just 0.086 seconds behind the winner. Petr Svoboda also rode strongly to finish fourth, half a second behind his teammate.

On Sunday, the results of Füsport – RT Motorsports and SKM – Kawasaki riders were completely opposite. Svoboda was on the third step of the podium and very close to victory, Iglesias was fourth after a strong comeback.

In the overall standings, Inigo Iglesias is now in second place with 57 points, just six points behind the WorldSSP300 leader. Petr Svoboda follows in third place with 53 points. The commitment of the two Kawasaki riders from IDM to the World Championship has therefore proved to be the right choice and both have turned the home team’s race into a good promotion event for themselves.
