Kia EV3 would debut this year | Car news

As Earth Day approaches, it’s an electric week at Auto123 as our news covers what’s happening and what’s happening in this world.

• Kia will move its EV3 concept into production quickly, with a production version expected before the end of the year.

Some manufacturers have announced to postpone the arrival of some of the electric cars they were planning, mainly due to the decrease in their demand across the planet.

At Kia, we stay the course. Recently, during the investor’s day, the company confirmed its intention to continue with its projects and maintain its goals in terms of electricity supply.

Better yet, Kia has announced that a production version of the EV3 sub-concept will see the light of day before the end of the year.

We will remember that at the last Los Angeles Auto Show, Kia surprised everyone by unveiling two compact electric concepts, EV3 and EV4.

These two products, promised to be cheaper, are exactly what the current electric car market lacks: affordable proposals.

According to its president and CEO, Ho Sung Song, Kia wants to be a “sustainable mobility provider”. The Korean manufacturer still plans to sell 4.3 million units annually by 2030, while it currently sells 3.2 million. He also believes that 58% (exact number) of the models he will sell worldwide will be electrified in one way or another.

Obviously, to achieve this goal, the company must be aggressive, especially by offering cheap cars to compete, among others, with Chinese companies.

In China, Kia already offers the EV5 which should reach the European market this year. The company has already mentioned a model called EV2, which remains to be discovered. Its name makes us think it is smaller than the EV3, which leads us to believe that it would be intended for markets other than ours.

This year alone, the brand plans to introduce six models, with eight more electric models by 2026 and nine more by 2028. Its full electric vehicle lineup will number 15 vehicles in 2027.

Six of these models will be launched by 2026, including the EV3 in question here. Although we’ve only seen the car in concept form, its lines are consistent with those of more recent products, including the larger EV9 that debuts this year. We can think of the same signature for a small utility vehicle.

The EV3 will use the same E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) that serves the EV6 and EV9, but its electrical architecture will be 400 volts instead of 800 volts, a cost issue. Experts believe that the model can be sold for around 30,000 US dollars.

Surprisingly, the company did not confirm to Insideevs website if the car was coming to North America. However, the fact that it was presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show does not lie.

One thing is for sure, the first companies to offer affordable electric cars will sell them. It is only important that they can do so profitably, so that the exercise is financially sustainable.

We will be following this EV3 file very closely. This is a car that has the potential to be hit here.
