Dodge takes a different approach than Ford, which offers the regular Mustang as a coupe with combustion engines and a convertible, as well as an electric SUV called the Mustang Mach-E. Indeed, the Charger paves the way for a completely new generation, which may have an internal combustion engine or an electric powertrain. The new Dodge Daytona Charger will debut as a sedan, but it also comes in a longer five-door variant that replaces the Challenger.
The new Dodge Charger Daytona is based on the large STLA platform from Stellantis, which should also be available soon in Alfa Romeo and Lancia (the American manufacturer has no European projects with this muscle car).
Specifications and performance
The electric power combines two electric motors (and thus the wheel drive) and a 100.5 kWh battery. The R/T variant develops 550 hp, goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and promises a range of 510 km (according to the US EPA standard). The sportier Scat Pack version boosts the rider to 670 hp, needs just 3.3 seconds from standstill to 100 km/h and will have a range of 418 km.
A Banshee version of the Dodge Charger electric Daytona is also planned, with a more efficient 800V system. Although the new Dodge Charger is saying goodbye to the V8, it will still be offered with internal combustion engines. In these versions, the Daytona name is replaced by the Sixpack suffix. You have a choice between a Standard Output version of 420 hp and a High Output version of 550 hp.
