What you see is the new Dodge Daytona Charger and yes… it’s electric. The new style began to appear in the United States, it will go into production later this year and also replace the Challenger. The new Charger Daytona will be attractive and will be available in a 2-door coupe and a 4-door sedan version.
Dodge, however, is not giving up on the combustion engine: in fact, in 2025 two versions of the Charger will enter production with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine producing 426 and 558 HP.
The new electric heart of the Dodge Charger
Dodge Charger Daytona electric will be available in R/T and ScatPack versions, together they have the big STLA platform from Stellantis with two engines and all-wheel drive, the only thing that changes is the power.
The Charger R/T has a total of 503 hp (370 kW) and 548 Nm of torque, which translates into a sprint from 0 to 100 km in 4.7 seconds, and a top speed of 200 km/h. Power is provided by a 100.5 kWh (93.9 kWh usable) battery pack.
Charger Daytona ScatPack is more powerful, it has 680 HP (500 kW) and 850 Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds but the top speed is unchanged.
For both, when high performance is not required, the front engine is switched off to increase freedom and efficiency. The drive to the rear wheels is transmitted through a small mechanical input differential.
Speaking of autonomy, the battery is the same and so the distance changes: with an electric tank the Charger R/T can travel up to 510 km in the US EPA cycle, while the ScatPack can travel up to 418 km. The battery can be recharged with alternating current up to 11 kW or direct current: with 350 kW fast charging you can go from 5 to 80% in about 27 minutes.
It is electric but can make a lot of noise
Generous sound is part of American muscle car culture and the new Dodge Charger promises miracles, even electric ones. thanks to the Fratzonic system, which artificially recreates the sound of Hellcat exhaust. It probably won’t be the same, but on the other hand the alternative is an unrewarding electric hiss.
Driving modes for all tastes
Dodge has planned for the new Charger multiple driving modes, including Auto, Eco, Sport, Wet/Snow and Track; plus there is also a PowerShot mode, which increases the speed of HP 41 in acceleration. Charger ScatPack can also depend on it Drift and Donut Modes, which adds a bit of adrenaline and driving fun.
As for the chassis, all Charger Daytonas have a multilink front and independent rear suspension; A track package is available as an option on the ScatPack, which includes dual-valve shock absorbers. The brakes are Brembo-branded, with 16-inch discs, 30% larger than the latest SRT. Rims are available in different sizes, from 18 to 20 inches.
Let’s take its measurements
Dimensions are generous, The new Dodge Daytona Charger is 5,247 mm long, 2,027 mm wide and 1,499 mm tall, with a 3074 mm wheelbase. The weight exceeds 2.6 tons (2,648 kg to be exact). Cargo capacity varies from 644 to 1,059 litres, depending on seat configuration.
Design remembers the past
In terms of style, Dodge has drawn on tradition, the lines recall those of the old Charger, modified with a modern / electric key. The appearance of the front with a long sloping bonnet is terrible, the back with light clusters “ring of fire” is no different. If desired, you can choose a full-length glass roof.
The interior is in a technological style, of course, it offers 10.25 inch digital instruments (16 is optional) and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen , a heated steering wheel and a wireless smartphone charger. The optional head-up display, the icing on the cake, is the 64-color ambient lighting.
