Kas Haverkort is ready for the Porsche Cup race at GP Elite: “I immediately felt a good click”

Kas Haverkort (20) will play for the first time this year in the Porsche Supercup and Porsche Carrera Cup Germany for the GP Elite team. The driver from Hardenberg completed his first meters in a Porsche Cup car last winter during the Porsche Sprint Challenge in Southern Europe. Here he scored two victories in four races. During the team performance from GP Elite the young talent shows that he is eager to start his real season.

GP Elite organized a day for team partners and the media at the Zandvoort circuit. Haverkort has already fielded a Porsche Cup car at various circuits in Southern Europe, but now he is also kicking his car in the tail during taxi trips at the Zandvoort circuit. Partners and guests thoroughly enjoy and are fascinated by the intense cycles with Kas.

This year Haverkort runs with the GP Elite team, which is under the leadership of the inspiration of Marc Schipper and Torsten van Haasteren. In a conversation with RaceXpress, Haverkort shows that he felt comfortable with the team from De Rijp from the first minute: “I felt like coming to my home and also immediately I felt good with the mechanics and engineers. I felt it immediately. He had a good relationship with the whole team and that was great.”

In the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, Haverkort drives on the most exclusive circuits in Europe. From Hockenheimring to Monza and from Monaco to Zandvoort: “Of course it’s great that you visit such beautiful circuits. Good for the experience of course, it can only help you in the years to come and of course it’s great to be on. .”

There is undoubtedly one race he is looking forward to the most, the Zandvoort race, in the Formula 1 support program: “I think Zandvoort is one of the best circuits there is. And to drive there with a full stand as the Formula 1 support program has to be very special. “I have driven once in my career as a Formula 1 support act and then I scored a podium,” he says of his podium in 2022 during the FRECA round in Monaco.

In preparation for this season, he tested last week at the Imola circuit, where the first round of the Carrera Cup and Porsche Supercup takes place. He also tried for a day at the German circuit of Oschersleben.

Haverkort is out of Formula racing. In his first season in Spanish Formula 4 he became champion and later drove for FRECA. In those three seasons he scored several podiums and four victories, including one at the Zandvoort circuit. He looks back with optimism on his Formula work, but sees it as a closed book. Now that he drives a Porsche, he enjoys the cup car: “It’s like a real race. And I think that’s good too. You drive more than the limit, the absolute limit. You can push and give a little blow here and there. In that case, racing in a Porsche is much cooler.

The Formula Car chapter is closed for him, but by driving in the Porsche Supercup, the doors are opened. GT racing and long distance racing are becoming more and more popular. With the introduction of the Hypercar regulations in the WEC, more and more places are available in the factory team, including Porsche: “I think if you look at the top people who drive in the Porsche factory in hypercars or other factories. if you look where it comes from, there are people so many who have driven in the Porsche Super Cup so I think the Porsche Super Cup is a great way to step up.”

On the weekend of April 21, Haverkort will run its first race in the German Carrera Cup at the Imola circuit. The first round of the Porsche Supercup is also in Imola, on the weekend of May 19.

Kas Haverkort is driving all the Porsche Carrera Deutschland races and at the time four races in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, which participates as a support program for the F1 Grands Prix. Haverkort is still looking for support for the remaining Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup races. In any case, Kas is proud to defend Dutch honor for GP Elite.
