About 340,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees were recalled for a steering problem

FCA US (Stellantis) has recalled about 340,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles in the United States due to a fault in the steering wheel that could cause the vehicle to lose control.

“Continuous review of customer feedback led to a group investigation that found that the 2021 through 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L models” had a defective bolt, explained FCA US in a press release.

“Unusual noise or vibration”

According to the recall notice issued by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this failure can eventually cause the steering wheel to turn and cause loss of vehicle control. “FCA US has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related” to this defect, the manufacturer said.

“Drivers may experience unusual noise or vibration when driving on bumps,” he said. Owners of 338,238 vehicles sold in the United States are being invited to a dealership, which will replace this bolt when it is defective, FCA US said, estimating that 1% of vehicles may be affected.

The affected vehicles are the 2021-2023 Grand Cherokee L and the 2022-2023 Grand Cherokee, according to NHTSA. The Stellantis Group was born from the merger in January 2021 of the French manufacturer Peugeot-Citroën (PSA) and the Italian-American Fiat Chrysler (FCA).
