It is characterized by a classic, elegant look with many stylistic tastes, a beautiful and original interior in which a number of quality materials are used. The car arrived at our editorial office in 2021. We have just crossed 40,000 km. What are its advantages and disadvantages, disadvantages? What problems and failures did we face? Read on.

July 21, 2021 We’ve started our long-distance test of the DS 7 Crossback with 1.6 180 HP petrol engine and EAT8 automatic transmission. The car came to us in a highly equipped version, including: with Focal Hi-Fi kit, DS Sensorial Drive, keyless entry, pearl black paint, Full LED Headlights, DS Connected Pilot, DS Park Pilot, ventilated seats and massage function and solar panel roof – basically the only thing missing is night vision. Comfort above all, the car is always a pleasure

DS 7 Crossback turned out to be, above all, a comfortable and quiet car, very pleasant to drive. He spends a lot of time on long routes between major Polish cities – Krakow, Warsaw and Tricity. The biggest advantage from the point of view of the driver and passengers is the average fuel consumption (the current average is 7.6 liters per 100 km), good dynamics that allow you to travel safely on the road, silence on board even at high speeds, great quality. of materials that, after almost a year and a half, show little signs of wear.

Very happy to use DS 7

The most important feeling that accompanies us when using the DS 7 Crossback seems to be the pleasure of interacting with this car and the joy of driving. You just want to stay here longer, it’s a very satisfying car, basically understood as a comfortable and hassle-free mileage. This is not just our opinion – many people who own a DS 7 Crossback write the same about their cars, commenters from our website and members of the Polish DS 7 Crossback group.

What do we really like? Good seats, massage, excellent Focal sound (it’s worth paying extra for this option because it gives a natural, very pleasant sound). The only thing missing in multimedia is a wireless connection to Andoid Auto or Apple Car Play (this can be added using a third module and maybe we will).

It is worth going to the competition and then quickly returning to DS

To understand where the market success of this model comes from (more than 100,000 units sold), it is worth visiting several showrooms of competitors. In the same price class, in many aspects – design, comfort, feeling of quality, spaciousness – DS 7 Crossback will do better than German or Japanese models, and it will be easy to see the advantages of this unique SUV on the market. Of course, there are aspects where the DS could do better, which can be reflected in the price.

Oil consumption

The current average fuel consumption in our test car is 7.6 liters per 100 km. We expect this to increase slightly during the winter due to short driving distances. Fuel consumption is similar to what other users achieve. On the highway, of course, it increases, because the SUV is not the most updated body.

DS 7 Trouble with hybrid failure?

The driving of our SUV is flawless and hassle-free. During the first inspection after 20,000 km, a service was performed regarding the rear lights. They are sealed or replaced by the manufacturer. What could the manufacturer do better? Some inconvenience is the long process of updating the map, which must be done with the engine running. Until recently, the process of downloading new maps to a pendrive also took a long time, but it seems that this has already been fixed and now takes a few minutes on a fast connection. It is worth noting, however, that there are users who have encountered problems with their DS 7, but these are isolated cases and occur in every brand.

Suspension is not for everyone

Not everyone will like the good suspension of the DS 7 Crossback – people who are used to hard suspension may feel less confidence behind the wheel of this SUV. Some users also had to change the rear suspension components after several thousand kilometers due to premature wear. However, our DS 7 Crossback edition has not required service intervention so far, apart from the aforementioned operation and the lights.

The truth is, however, that new cars, not just DS, are often in service stations. Unfortunately, the age of technology. A small defect is not a defect. There may be problems with the suspension, from what I read, but I think it was a childhood problem and there should not be any major problems with young models (…) a beautiful and unique car. Unfortunately, you have to get used to the comfort of the suspension of this car, because on long highways it is an advantage that beats the competition, on short, potholed roads it can turn on completely. Unfortunately, there is no better anywhere, one thing at a time. Overall, I recommend it, it’s a very nice car to drive.
Mileage 110 km 2019 2.0 BlueHDI, Opera version. I have been using it for 95K km, so far only the rear light has been replaced and both are glued with lamp glue. I don’t have any other major problems, I changed the rear wishbone arm (stupid amount) and I still need the CR pump seal, it sweats a little, the seal costs PLN 40, maybe PLN 400, and that’s all. In general, there are no problems with the electricity, the car is very comfortable, sometimes it is very smooth and likes to change a little, it drives and brakes alone, fuel consumption in the city 7.4L, highway about 5.7L, average 7L. No problems, car from 2020. First registration May 2021. 1.6 liter engine, 225 HP. About 33,000 miles traveled. 90% city driving.
I have 130,000 years and 3.5, the only problem is the right rear light is closed, no other problems. 225 gasoline.

I have a big smile on my face every time I get in and drive. People keep looking at each other…

I am also satisfied with the car, despite some disadvantages, there are many advantages, mine is a 2.0 180 HP diesel – perhaps the best engine for this car.
