Three years have passed since the official launch of the DS Automobiles brand, which is based on the luxury line of Citroen cars. 2020, although difficult, brought the manufacturer good results on the French market. DS 7 Crossback and DS 3 Crossback are at the forefront of premium car sales.

Last year, the DS Automobiles brand was the fourth most frequently chosen brand in France. 22,182 vehicles were purchased from DS sales centres. The manufacturer ended 2020 with a decrease of 17.4%, but it is worth noting that the fall of the payment market reached 25.4%. In the luxury car sales list, DS 7 Crossback (11,847 units) and DS 3 Crossback (10,334 units) took second and third place. Only the Mercedes A-Class was more popular in the segment.

French consumers were very eager to choose electric and hybrid cars. One of the three registered DS is the E-Tense variant (7,245 units). Following this lead, the DS 7 Crossback was the most frequently registered premium hybrid (4,535 units) and DS 3 Crossback the second most popular electric model (2,710 units).

The DS Automobiles brand gained a 9.7% share in the premium market. The result has increased by 0.9 points compared to 2019 and is part of the ongoing growth. In 2017, the manufacturer’s market share was 7.6%, in 2018 – 8.5% and in 2019 – 8.8%.

In 2021, DS Automobiles intends to strengthen its position and be more in the market. Two new models will be added to the offer. The flagship DS 9 will be shown in French showrooms in June this year. The first customers will receive pre-ordered copies in the fall. A compact model will also debut in early 2021 DS 4.
