DS7 Crossback E-Tense 300 4×4

The DS 7 Crossback was the first model designed for DS Automobiles. Two years after the start of the car with conventional drives, the French company introduced a plug-in hybrid. The SUV is placed in the D segment. Although it is closely related technologically to the Peugeot 5008 and the Opel Grandland X, the similarities are not so obvious at first glance. DS builds its identity with the character of a high-quality product.

This results in higher prices. In the catalog DS 7 Crossback costs from PLN 141,900 total, but the plug-in hybrid version costs at least PLN 246,900. After fitting the package of additional options, to leave the showroom with the car configured as a test car, you will have to spend at least PLN 283,900 out of your pocket.

The body of the DS 7 Crossback is 457 cm long and 189 cm wide.

Technology

The heart of the DS 7 Crossback E-Tense is a hybrid system consisting of a 1.6 turbo petrol engine producing 200 HP, as well as two electric units with a power of 110 HP and 112 HP. The total power of the system is 300 HP.

Electric motors were installed on both axles, thanks to which The DS 7 Crossback E-Tense has got four-wheel drive. The lack of a car shaft, on the one hand, has a positive effect on reducing the weight of the car, and on the other hand, it allows avoiding the central tunnel, giving more space to those sitting in the back seat.

The system is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Under the hood is a 1.6 turbo petrol engine with 200 HP.

A lifestyle

The DS 7 Crossback E-Tense shines – literally and figuratively. A motif of shimmering crystals can be found in the exterior and interior. Front and back LED lights they look like polished gems. This motif can also be found inside the ventilation grilles.

White leather upholstery with stitching, leather steering wheel with thick lip, chrome strips and buttons, smooth screen and touch panel. The interior looks very elegant and classy.

What catches the eye is the white upholstery.

Virtual clocks are clear, but their animation slows down the display of the required menu information. The multifunction steering wheel is three-spoke, arranged at the bottom.

Most functions are controlled by touch from the screen on the center console. Having a shortcut to adjust the temperature means that the lack of a knob is not a problem.

The seats are comfortable. The driver’s seat can be adjusted electrically and is equipped with a massage function in several ways. The back of the rear seat can also be adjusted electrically. There is not much head room – back and front.

Driving experience

The DS 7 Crossback E-Tense starts silently, always using the electric motors first. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 6 seconds, using the power of both units – electricity and gasoline. Driving on both axles helps maintain stability on the road and prevents loss of traction.

The suspension is simple – although it’s more soft than hard, suppresses the imbalance well. Active cruise control and distance adjustment work very well, making it easy to cover long distances on the road. In the city, the automatic transmission and recovery mode are useful – when you take your foot off the gas pedal, the car closes more.

On an urban stretch of 20 km, using only the electric motor, the DS 7 Crossback E-Tense showed an average fuel consumption of 0.1 l/100 km.
