Recycling and processing of valuable materials is very important in times of energy scarcity and resource conservation. Hyundai Construction Equipment also has the right machine for these special needs. Dutch recycling group Attero, based in Venlo, chose a HX520A crawler excavator with an operating weight of 52,000 kg to process the material. The big machine was built by authorized dealer Van der Speck.
The company with 800 employees has been working in the treatment and processing of waste materials for more than 90 years. The company currently has 19 branches in the Netherlands alone. The most important service is the use of heat from household waste to generate energy. Other activities include waste processing, operation of approved landfills and production of compost and other raw materials. Peter Voolstra is Sales Director at Van der Speck; He emphasizes: “We were able to put together a great device made for this customer who had great needs. Hyundai’s core equipment is a proven excavator that is successfully used in demolition, civil engineering and mining across Europe. With our counterweight adjustment, quick coupler and protective ventilation system, it is now well ready for use. We hear nothing but positive feedback from drivers about responsiveness, performance and fuel consumption. Of course, the HX520 Al has an all-round camera with fully automatic object detection.
A large 52 t excavator with a 4 m3 bucket was ordered from Hyundai’s Dutch dealer Van der Speck for use at the landfill site in Landgraaf. At the customer’s request, the device was equipped with a counterweight of 12,700 kg for better stability. To reduce ground pressure, three 900 mm grouse shoes were installed.
The fast hydraulic device of the CW 55 type is also part of special equipment, such as pressure ventilation in the cab, so that the driver can work safely, comfortably and, above all, without being disturbed by any polluted outside air.
The HX520 weighs 52,000 kg in the standard version with a 9,000 mm monoblock. It is powered by a Cummins X12 (Stage V) engine with an output of 298 kW. The digging force is 28.6 kN, the breaking force is 24.8 kN. With a large monobloc boom, the high-performance machine reaches a digging depth of 11,870 mm.
