Aircraft engine maker Rolls-Royce is cutting up to 2,500 jobs

A representative of Rolls-Royce Solutions Benelux told ANP that he had heard about the layoffs at the parent company. According to him, it is not yet known exactly where the layoffs will take place. “An announcement about this will be made later.” However, he does not expect any impact on the Dordrecht branch, the only branch of Rolls-Royce in the Netherlands. About 70 to 75 people work at the branch office.

Under the plan, the technology and security divisions will be merged. As a result, chief technology officer Grazia Vittadini will leave the company in April 2024. “This is another step in our multi-year transformational journey to build a high-performing, competitive, stable and growing business,” said Erginbilgic. The plan should also ensure improvements in procurement and help reduce costs.

Rolls-Royce engines are used, among others, in the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787, but also in ships, submarines and in energy production. The group has gone through several reforms in the last ten years. At the beginning of the corona crisis in 2020, the company cut 9,000 jobs to survive. At that time, airplanes were placed very low in the world. About half of Rolls-Royce’s current workforce is in the UK, 11,000 work in Germany and around 5,500 in the US.
